Police Say Booze at Teenage Party, Dad Arrested

A father knew alcohol was being served at his teenage son's party in the basement to a group under the legal drinking age, police said.

Darien police said that after they determined a 51-year-old father knew alcohol was being served at his teenage son's party at 5 Dorr Rd., they arrested the father.

Capt. Frederick W. Komm, a spokesman for the department, gave this account of the incident:

Police were called to the Dorr Road residence at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, after receiving complaints of vehicles playing loud music there. Patrol officers found cars parked in the driveway and saw a young female run into the house as soon as she saw them.

Police spoke with Jose Yepez, the homeowner, and they found a party was going on in the basement of the house. They also determined Yepez knew of the party, knew alcohol was being consumed there and none of the participants were of legal drinking age.

Yepez was charged with providing alcohol to minors and posted a $1,000 bond. He is due to appear April 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
