Darien police issued this news release offering a reward for information on the robber who struck People's United Bank in Goodwives Shopping Center last week:

The Darien Police Detective Division is seeking assistance in a bank robbery investigation.

On Wednesday April 30, 2014 at approximately 2 p.m., the People’s United Bank located at 25 Old Kings Hwy. N., was robbed.  The suspect entered the bank using an open umbrella to shield himself from vestibule and ATM cameras.

Once entry was made, the suspect pulled out a silver, long-barreled revolver from his waistband and then jumped over the counter. After taking an undetermined amount of cash, he exited the bank and was last seen running toward the rear of the shopping center.

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet 3 inches [tall], wearing a dark colored ski mask, black gloves, a navy hooded parka, and black cargo pants.  The suspect’s umbrella was plaid blue and had a light brown handle.

Currently a reward of up to a $2,000 has been established for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in this robbery.

The reward is being offered by the Connecticut Banker’s Reward Association.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Darien Police Detective Division at 203-662-5330.
