SATURDAY: ITP Triathlon to Delay Traffic in Darien

About 500 athletes, starting at Weed Beach, will be cycling and running around the streets of Darien on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Darien police issued the following news release about short traffic delays for vehicles due to the ITP Triathalon coming up this Saturday afternoon (expect traffic delays on Sunday, too, for the annual Darien Road Race):

The annual ITP Triathlon will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. [noon.  The triathlon, hosting approximately 500 athletes, will start at Weed Beach. 

Motorists are advised to expect delays along the race route.  Officers will be positioned along the route to facilitate the flow of traffic. 

Nearwater Lane, Rings End Road and the Post Road (between Nearwater Lane and Rings End Road) will be posted “No Parking” for this event.

Bicycle Route – Nearwater Lane, Post Road, Hollow Tree Ridge Road into New Canaan. Athletes will return to Weed Beach via the same route.

Runners Route – Nearwater Lane, Post Road, Rings End Road, Harbor Road, Pear Tree Point Road, Long Neck Point Road.  Athletes will return to Weed Beach via the same route.
