Scooter Stolen at Darien Station, Found [UPDATE]

By the time the owner of a motor scooter called police to report it stolen, it had already been found.

A 2004 Yamaha Zuma scooter valued at $1,500 was stolen from the Darien Railroad Station on Monday Nov. 19. but recovered before the day was done.

Darien police gave this account of the incident:

At about 4 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious man trying to start a dirt bike at Tilley Pond Park. The man was described as black, with a thin build and wearing a black jacket and a baseball cap covered by a wool hat.

When police arrived at the scene, they couldn't find the man. They did find the scooter, which had been damaged near its ignition switch. The owner later called police to report it stolen.

The owner said he had parked it in the train station parking lot that morning, but left it unsecured.
