Stolen Beetle Recovered in Stamford

A Volkswagen Beetle reported stolen out of a Chestnut Street driveway last week was recovered Sunday in Stamford, according to .

The vehicle was found intact — and locked — missing only the keys the owner had reportedly left inside.

The black 2010 model on Feb. 23. The woman told police she had parked it in the driveway of her home the night before and came out the next morning to discover it was gone.

The Darien resident she had been distracted by a puppy as she carried it inside from the car and that she "may have left the keys in the unlocked vehicle" as a result.

The vehicle is valued at about $26,000, according to Capt. Fred Komm.
