Suddenly, Stamford Animal Control Needs Homes for Dogs, Cats

With more animals coming in than adopters are taking out, cage space is becoming an issue.

Stamford Animal Control is currently dealing with a large influx of animals following a couple of instances netting several animals at once.

4 Bichon dogs recovered from the home of Susan Beran, who apparently , are still in need of a home. The dogs were recovered from the residence authorities believe a few days after the incident had occurred. 

Outreach to Pets in Need is currently taking care of the medical costs for the dogs.

  • Jenny, 11, had to have emergency surgery for bladder stones. She is a spayed female. 
  • Skipper, almost 10, is a neutered male.
  • Kiwi, 13, is a neutered male
  • Cassidy, almost 8, is also a neutered male.

Once the dogs medical needs have been met, they will be put up for adoption.

A second incident from the previous week netted 10 cats from one home where the animals were not being cared for.

"Some days it's all I can do to get one animal a home, and two more come in," said Director of the Stamford Animal Care & Control Shelter Laurie Hollywood.

The animals need homes so the shelter can continue to take in other strays who need help. Those interested should contact Stamford Animal Control at 203-977-4437.
