Syringes Found Outside Holmes School; Nearby Resident Arrested

Syringes have been found outside Holmes School on Hoyt Street near a house that shares a driveway with the school, and a 32-year-old woman who lives at the house has been arrested.

Darien police Sgt. Jeremiah Marron said a resident of the home at 32 Hoyt St. gave police an identical syringe belonging to Anne Curtis, and a "small quantity of cocaine" was found inside the home, but police don't know if she's the source of the needles found on the grounds of the elementary school.

On May 6, 2014 at approximately 8 p.m. the Darien Police Department arrested Anne Curtis, age 32, of 32 Hoyt St for possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Darien officers recovered a used syringe and other items associated with the use of narcotics from Curtis’ home several days prior.  Based on this, a warrant was secured for her arrest and was subsequently executed last night.

An investigation is ongoing including exploring potential links between the syringe found in Curtis’ home and identical syringes recovered on the grounds of Holmes School.  

Curtis’ residence is adjacent to Holmes School and shares the same driveway and parking lot.  Over the past several days, seven used syringes have been located on the Holmes School property in very close proximity to Curtis’ home. 

Curtis was held in lieu of a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 16, 2014.
