Thefts from Unlocked Vehicles Continue in Noroton

The latest overnight thefts from vehicles parked near Noroton homes occurred last weekend on Dubois and nearby Patricia Lane.

Three unlocked vehicles on Dubois Street and Patricia Lane in the Noroton section of Darien were the latest to be entered overnight by thieves looking for something to steal.

Strings of earlier thefts occurred in late July and early August.

The total take from three intrusions (coming from just one of the vehicles): Less than $3 in pocket change.

Darien police gave these details:

Sometime between 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, and 5:30 a.m. the next day an unlocked 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck was entered and papers from the glove box were strewn about the interior of the cab. If anything was taken, the owner didn't notice it.

The owner told police he heard his dogs barking at about 11 p.m., but didn't check to see if anyone was near the truck.

Around a nearby corner, on Patricia Lane, a 2009 Infinity G37X, parked in a driveway between 5 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, was entered and the glove compartment left open. Nothing is known to have been taken.

The man told his wife that someone had been in his vehicle, and she checked her 2011 Honda Odyssey. She found that about $3 in loose change had been taken.
