Those Violent Graduation Ceremonies, Part 2

The following information about the unpleasant event in Pleasantville, NY is from the Police Department in Mount Pleasant NY. It does not indicate a conviction.

An Ossining, NY parent left his child's eighth grade graduation in handcuffs, according to Mount Pleasant Police Chief Louis Alagno.

The Police Department received a call reporting a disturbance at the moving up ceremony for  students at  in Pleasantville, N.Y. on Wednesday at approximately 7:50 p.m., Alagno said.

When police responded to the field house where the moving up ceremony was taking place, the chief explained, "There was a confrontation involving several people."

He said officers reported two women, who had a history of tension with each other, "brushed shoulders" at the ceremony and began arguing.

Others got involved and one man, a 50-year-old Ossining resident, was ultimately arrested.

"He kicked another male in the groin," Alagno said, "causing him to fall to the ground."

The man is charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, June 21.
