'Treja-Vu' — Yet Another Avalon Darien TV Burglary

Treja-vu all over again at Avalon Darien: Somebody's source for free flat-screen TVs.

Once again, large flat-screen televisions have been stolen from Avalon Darien -- the third television theft from a non-residential area of the residential complex since November 2012.

Once again, two 46-inch televisions were taken from one of the buildings at 137 Hollow Tree Ridge Rd. They are valued at $1,000 each. This time, the theft was from a room on the lower level. Back in November 2012, two televisions had been taken from the game room. That December, a television was taken from a model unit.

Once again, an employee discovered the theft in the morning. This time it was just before 8:22 a.m. on Monday, March 3. A worker who was emptying waste cans after a party found that the front door of the building was open and an interior door was unlocked.  The televisions had last been seen at about 4 p.m. the day before.

All in all, five televisions have been stolen from the complex in less than 17 months.

There was almost a sixth television stolen: Darien police said a third television remained in the same area on Monday, tampered with but not removed.
