Trust in Craigslist Seller, Wired Money Soon Parted

A Darien man arranged to buy concert tickets for $733 from a seller on Craigslist, but after the money was wired through Western Union, the tickets never appeared—and 'James' the seller vanished.

A Darien man trusted an anonymous seller on Craigslist to send him concert tickets after $733 was wired to a Western Union office.

Well, you know how that ended (so far), since the story is showing up here.

Darien police gave this account of the particulars:

On Thursday, the Darien man told police he had responded to a Craigslist advertisement for the concert tickets. Then he used the Western Union office in Norwalk to wire $733 to a person purporting to be "Brad James," purporting to be somewhere in New York City.

The money was picked up from Western Union.

The tickets never arrived.

Western Union is investigating the incident. A complaint has been filed with Craigslist.
