Video: Gunfire in Springdale Liquor Store Heist Attempt

The suspect fired a weapon three times during an attempted liquor store robbery.

Two masked, hoodied men entered a Stamford liquor store firing off a weapon during an attempted robbery, Lieutenant Diedrich Hohn said after releasing a video of the incident Thursday.

It was around 9 p.m. New Years Eve when two men entered the Hope Bottle Shop on Hope St. and fired an initial shot into the store.

The clerk intially reported to police he thought it was a hoax, until the suspect fired a second round while demanding money.

During the incident, as the attempted thief struggled to open the register, an employee chucked a case of beer at the suspect, scaring them off, Hohn said.

The suspects fired a third round into the store as they fled.

The incident went unreported until Jan. 2, 2012, Hohn said.

How could u possibly not know how shi&&&& this neighborhood is? A hoax? People have all sorts of firearms registered and unregistered. I wish the owner had one on him and we could get these people off the streets.
