Wilton Woman Attacked by Pet Dog: Loses an Arm

On Nov. 11 at approximately 11:30a.m. the Wilton Police Dept. was notified of an attack of a resident by her pet pit bull in the area of Range Rd and Buckoard Ridge Rd.

According to Wilton Police, the first arriving officer, Capt. John Lynch found the victim, Anne Murray, age 65, of 77 Range Rd attempting to protect herself and seriously injured underneath a vehicle in her driveway.

Captain Lynch determined that the dog was an immediate threat to the victim, the officer and residents who had stopped, according to a release from Wilton Police, and Captain Lynch discharged his weapon, striking and killing the animal.

The victim suffered severe injuries as a result of the attack by the dog, to include the loss of one arm and partial loss of the other, as well as multiple other wounds over her body, according to Wilton Police. Murray was transported by Wilton EMS to Norwalk Hospital.

The dog will be tested for rabies at a State of Connecticut laboratory.
