A 19-year-old woman who struck a telephone pole, stone wall and tree when she drove a Ford Explorer off of Hollow Tree ridge Road has been charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
say the woman had a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit at 6:50 in the morning.
Police gave this account of the incident and arrest:
Kelsea Alderman of 20 Silver Brook Rd., Ridgefield, was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer north on Hollow Tree Ridge Road at 6:50 a.m. on June 23 when she drove off the road.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they could smell alcohol on her, and Alderman admitted to drinking some. She was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.
With a search warrant, police obtained Alderman's medical records from the hospital visit, showing her blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit, and police applied for an arrest warrant.
After she was told that the arrest warrant had been approved by a judge, Alderman turned herself in at police headquarters and was released on a $50 bond. She is to appear Aug. 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
