Campaign Notebook: McMahon, Bysiewicz Release New Ads

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

U.S. Senate

Linda McMahon (R): McMahon reveals new ads promoting her Jobs Plan.

Christopher Shays (R): Shays released a statement in response to President Obama's proposal to raise taxes and called for an end to class warfare.

"Friday's jobs reports highlights the need for a path to recovery that is focused on robust economic growth so we can recover the ground we lost during the past three years, and get our country back on track," Shays said. "Getting back to 4% sustained economic growth, which was normal for nearly 200 years, is the solution to full employment, better jobs, rising income and prosperity."

Susan Bysiewicz (D): Bysiewicz has released her second television ad and plans to spend $100,000 a week on these ads until the primaries on August 14, reports the New Haven Register.

Fourth District

Jim Himes (D): Himes announced a $12,516 grant to Fairfield University's Primary-care Outcome Valued Initiative for Delivery of Education (PROVIDE).

Steve Obsitnik (R): An opinion letter on The Hour calls for Obsitnik to clarify his stance on President Obama's Affordable Care Act.

ELSEWHERE IN CONNECTICUT:

Fifth District

Elizabeth Esty (D): A new ad from Esty has drawn the ire of Chris Donovan's campaign manager with a response that rivals a "shotgun blast" according to a blog on the Hartford Courant.

Andrew Roraback (R): Senator Antonietta Boucher endorses Roraback, as reports his campaign website. She said, "I am switching my support to Andrew because I know first-hand having served side by side with him how hard he will fight for Republican principles in Congress."
