Campaign Notebook: Shays Compares McMahon Strategy to 'Nothing'

U.S. Senate

Christopher Shays (R) has posted a video of Seinfeld's "Nothing" bit on his campaign website, comparing the infamous sketch to Republican opponent Linda McMahon's campaign strategy. 

Fourth District 

Steve Obsitnik (R): Republican candidate Steve Obsitnik has agreed to refund campaign contributions, reports the Connecticut Post. Obsitnik won the nomination at the Republican convention on May 18, thus avoiding the primary election and no longer needs the funds intended for its campaign.

Jim Himes (D): Himes, along with U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-3) and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D), announced a $938,360 grant for Bridgeport's The WorkPlace. The grant will help living conditions for 300 veteran families in Southwestern Connecticut, including housing stability and receiving benefits.

Third District

Fifth District

Mark Greenberg (R): Greenberg spent $327,057 in the second quarter, reports the Hartford Courant. This is more than any other Republican candidate.

The Courant also reports that Greenberg has loaned $1.49 million to his own campaign.

Elizabeth Esty (D): Esty posted on her campaign website that she is the 5th District's leading Democratic fundraiser, having raised $274,103 in the second quarter.
