[There is a reception at 6:30 p.m., and the program is from 7 to 8:15 p.m. in the auditorium. This is the first time in 20 years that there is a contested race for the Board of Education. There are four candidates running for three positions on the Board. Come to the library on Oct.r 18 to hear from all the candidates.]

The second event is the annual Darien League of Women Voters Candidates’ Night on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Town Hall. The Norwalk and Stamford Leagues are co-sponsoring the evening with us. Featured will be the State Senate and State Representative candidates. The evening begins with a reception in the lobby at 7 pm.

The program begins at 7:30 pm with a “Debate and Discussion of Issues.” The candidates appearing are: Rob Werner (D) and Terrie Wood (R), running for state representative in District 141; Jack Chiaramonte (R) and Bob Duff (D), running for state senate in District 25; Carlo Leone (D), Barry Michelson (R), and Ron Sala (Green Party Candidate), running for state senate in District 27.

At both events, voters will be able to submit written questions in person for consideration.  This is a great opportunity to ask the candidates about the many issues our town is facing. Both events will be taped by Channel 79 and replayed prior to the election on Nov. 6. For more information please visit the league’s website at lwv.darien.org.

Mark your calendars for both of these events and don’t miss the opportunity to get informed before Election Day about the candidates and the issues!
