Ex-Malloy Aide Takes Swipe at Potential Challenger Foley

As Greenwich resident and politico Tom Foley sets his sights on an election rematch with Gov. Dannel Malloy, a former Malloy aide posts a sardonic photo on Twitter.

One of Gov. Dannel Malloy's former key aides took a swipe Monday night at  a possible challenger to his former boss in the next year's state elections.

Former senior Malloy advisor Roy Occhiogrosso posted on Twitter, a photo of a person encapsulated in a body cast lying on a hospital bed with the caption, "Tom Foley resting at home after his visit to the Capitol" pic.twitter.com/BJaL7VJfLx.

Occhiogrosso's tweet came hours after Foley, a mid-country Greenwich resident, had a contentious meeting with Connecticut legislators over proposed legislation designed to eliminate conflicts of interest in state government. According to the Hartford Courant, Foley called the conflicts "sleazy" and legislators cried foul as his characterization that "foxes are running the henhouse."

Occhiogrosso is now managing director of the Hartford-based Global Strategy Group where he offers "top-notch strategic communications and public affairs advice to clients," according to his Global Strategy profile. He is expected to work on Malloy's reelection campaign.

In an interview published Sunday by Hearst Connecticut Newspapers, Foley said he intends to seek the Republican nomination for a rematch in 2014 against Malloy, a former Stamford mayor who beat the former ambassador to Ireland by about 6,000 votes in 2010.
