Five Things to Know About Darien: April 26

Patch's daily roundup of local events and useful information.

1. Getting your kids to talk to you...not the easiest language to speak. Barbara Greenberg, Ph.D., clinical psychologist with Silver Hill Hospital and author of “Teenage as a Second Language – A Parent’s Guide to Becoming Bilingual” will help you interpret your teens' verbal and nonverbal behavior and communicate with them in a way that makes you want to talk to them. This program is free of charge today at   from 9:30 to 11 a.m.  

2. Drop-In Toddler Tales will take place at the Darien Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m.  This storytime is for walkers up to 36 months and his or her caregiver.

3. The Darien Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing at 8 p.m. in room 206 of Darien Town Hall. Among the issues to be discussed is a proposal to convert the existing building at 599 Boston Post Road into 66 assisted living units -- some for traditional assisted living and some for memory care; with associated pathways and landscaping in the rear of the property; and perform related site development activities. 4. Tech-savvy kids can attend an interactive weekly technology program using podcasting, photos or videos. "iKids" will be held at the Darien Library from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
