First up: a presentation Tuesday night on Darien's Service Business and Service Business East zones.
Staff from the will conduct a special presentation Tuesday evening on the history and purpose of Darien's Service Business and Service Business East zones.
The talk is scheduled for 9 p.m. in room 206 following the regular meeting of the P&Z Commission.
The presentation will focus on the history of the zones, the reasons for their creation, and their role in the community [see Darien's zoning map].

Darien's Service Business Zone is situated primarily along Post Road between Cross Street and exit 11, encompassing such businesses as , , , and . It also includes the stretch of Ledge Road containing and the stretch of West Avenue covering .
The Service Business East Zone runs along Post Road from Birch Road to the Norwalk border, encompassing such businesses as the , HSBC Bank, , and Chipotle.

P&Z director Jeremy Ginsberg said the department plans to conduct a series of presentations on certain zoning topics to give commissioners and residents "more in-depth background" than the meeting schedule normally allows.
Tuesday's talk — the first installment of that series — comes at the request of the commission, Ginsberg said, and will be televised on .
