Gibson, Former ABC Anchor, Says Obama Will Win

Former ‘ABC World News’ Anchor Charles Gibson, lecturing at Quinnipiac University this week, predicts Obama will win the November election.

Charles Gibson, the former anchor of “ABC World News,” predicted President Barack Obama will win re-election while lecturing before a crowd of more than 800 on Sept. 20 at Quinnipiac University

“Folks, Barack Obama is going to win,” Gibson said. “I don’t say that just because Mitt Romney is running an inept campaign which he is. He made a very maladroit statement on the Middle East and his 47 percent on the dole, etc. You now hear backstage rumblings from prominent Republicans who have basically written him off.

"But I say it because Barack Obama won 365 electoral votes in 2008. That’s 95 more than he needed for election. He can lose states like Indiana, Missouri and North Carolina, all of which he won four years ago, and still be elected comfortably," Gibson said. "Every electoral map projection I’ve seen puts 237 electoral votes pretty solidly in the Obama column this year. That means he only needs to pick up 33 more.”

Watch the entire lecture. Gibson makes his prediction at the 23:10 mark of the video.

If he is right, you can kiss this country goodbye-16 trillion in debt and a healthcare program that will ruin us. Wasn't Charlie the *head of propaganda* for the ABC and the Democratic party? It works - a lot of people will vote for the most failed President in history because the NYTABCCBSNBCCNN tells them to. BIGGEST ECONOMIC FAILURE AND FOREIGN POLICY FAILURE EVER.

Stop whining, you should be pissed at your party for picking an incompetent candidate, 4 years from now well be way better off than we are now and you fear mongering republicans will be eating your words lol, cant wait. Clinton/Castro 2016

Yeah like anyone that really pays attention to world events believes Charlie Gibson & other members of the msm any more. One recent example: MSNBC & the like predicted that Walker would be lose in special Wisconsin recall vote, "Walker will lose in close race, decision go down to wire, count go on all night ..," well all it took was 45 minutes folks to determine that he won. Other countries file news events about our Country that are far more accurate and unbiased than most US journalists following the day's talking points.. Parents should pay attention to college campus activities where such speakers can fill their childrens heads with such bias. http://www.examiner.com/article/gallup-poll-60-percent-of-americans-don-t-trust-mass-media

Obama deserves to win: y Steven C. Johnson and Rodrigo Campos NEW YORK | Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:16pm IST (Reuters) - Barack Obama often gets slammed for his stewardship of the U.S. economy, but for stock investors, he's been one of the best presidents since World War Two. At 1,400, the S&P 500 on Friday was closing in on a four-year high and was up 74 percent since January 20, 2009, the day Obama took office. Not since Dwight Eisenhower's first term has a president had such a strong run for their first term.
Ksmithee September 22, 2012 at 06:45 PM
I'm sure those 8%+ suffering under the 42 straight months of unemployment on Obamas watch as well as CT's own 9% take great comfort in the stock market number.
Warren B September 22, 2012 at 07:03 PM
Maybe if the Mitt Romney types quit firing people things would be different. a historical analysis of job growth percentages shows that Obama still fares better than some recent presidents. As of July, Obama is averaging +0.84 percent annual job growth in his term. That places him ahead of Bush, who saw +0.51 percent growth in his first term and -0.84 percent in his second term. Obama is also tracking better than George H.W. Bush, who presided over +0.69 percent growth during his one term in the White House.
Ksmithee September 22, 2012 at 08:04 PM
how bout deduct from your inflated Obama figures those people that have taken multiple part time jobs because they can't find FT employment in terrible economy since no one is hiring. Also note those that have given up (thus being taken out of unemployment filings) to go onto welfare system which has skyrocketed under this administration? http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2012/02/welfare-spending-under-obama-dramatic.html?m=1
Warren B September 22, 2012 at 08:56 PM
Obama has worked a Miracle with the disaster that he inherited after 8 years of Bushdumb! Private sector jobs: If looking at hiring by businesses, the gap is actually much wider -- the private sector has actually added 415,000 jobs since Obama took office. But it had cut 1.6 million jobs during a comparable period of Bush's first term. The difference is that budget-strapped state and local governments have slashed their staffs over the last four years while they were adding workers when Bush was in offic
Ksmithee September 22, 2012 at 09:17 PM
Hah! 3 comments. Wondered how long it would take for you to blame Bush because Obamas record doesn't stand up and you can't find anything of substance to defend it. Bush has been out of office four years this is Obamas mess, own it.
Warren B September 22, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Well, were you bitching and moaning during the Bush disaster years as he drove the bus off the cliff? Were your panties in a knot those 8 years?
sebastian dangerfield September 23, 2012 at 11:09 AM
Warren... Im just wondering if you honestly buy your stuff;if you know its disingenuous nonsense, or if you are just copying and pasting some left wing blog? Your numbers are ridiculous. So just wonder if you post them here because you are dishonest or ignorant?
sebastian dangerfield September 23, 2012 at 11:39 AM
Warren, Just a couple of questions , with respect to your numbers and claims for miracle working by Obama. If the stock market is obama --then why cant the economy be obama? Arent they linked? In your mind, is it really obama who guided the stock market higher , despite being against trickle down economics, while he allowed the middle class and poor to languish , unattended and unemployed? How can the economy be bush, and the stock market obama? Dont you feel somewhat dirty, making these arguments? Obama took down Osama, but he had nothing to do with other actions by soldiers? Seems rather disingenuous. If you, Warren , lend me 100 mio dollars and I buy a yacht, a 15 mio dollar home in Greenwich and one in the South of France--a couple of Ferraris and nice shoes, am I rich, or do I just look rich, and actually owe more than I am worth? Since the election of Obama (ill employ your numbers game) the public debt went from 6.3 tril to 11.3 tril. (under bush 8 years went from 3.7 to 6.3) 2.6 trillion, despite all those costly wars under bush and 5 trillion in 3.7 years under obama. He is borrowing 4 times as fast as a guy you all say was terrible. The Obama economy is terrible, and ON TOP OF IT--its smoke and mirrors. Bernanke can keep printing all that money-and it has little place to go, but stocks--but its a bubble that is being inflated--and does not represent true value.
sebastian dangerfield September 23, 2012 at 11:53 AM
I think Democrats, if they have any regard for the truth, need to stop finding time lines that make it seem like things are fine----either that, or PLEASE stop saying Republicans are out of touch. Since Obamas election the unemployment rate has risen from 6.5 to 8.1% ---this despite a lower participation and rate. Some economists, consider the real unemployment rate that more accurately assesses the true picture known as U-6 to be around 15%. Job growth is simply not keeping pace with population growth. Why? Consider the regulatory , tax and healthcare requirements on small business owners. Warren, I encourage you to ask any person who owns a small business, what they think of Obama. Im serious. You all want to blame the stagnation on a lingering hangover from Bush--but ask small business owners about the costs , with Obamacare --the paperwork, the real out of pocket costs, and then you may have a clearer picture of why unemployment is so high. Most small business owners will simply say :you'd have to be crazy to hire someone with all the crap that exists now. This all sounds like the rhetoric that Republican politiicians try to get out --and are muted by the main stream media--but it happens to be true. I think the big mistake that Republican politicians have made surround their social agenda. The Media hates these policies-and therefore hates republicans-and spins stuff....but the truth about the economy-is that obama is terrible.
sebastian dangerfield September 23, 2012 at 12:05 PM
Warren asks 'were you bitching during Bush?" More an indictment on Democrats than republicans, unfortunately, if you ask me--because the people WHO WERE bitching about --about executive over reach, about our standing overseas, about GItmo, and the erosion of principle--about gas prices, now turn a blind eye. The popularity of the United States has been a centerpiece for democrats----its was terrible under Bush-and dems wanted a less cowboy-like hawk in the white house to improve this. So the result has been a somewhat better realtionship with Europe--worse with China, worse with the middle east--worse with Israel-- about the same with North Korea and South America....But dems will tell you ---they just feel better. Now with the flag burnings and anti american protests and a State dept that suddenly seems grossly inept and looking to cover up things, Obama's popularity is growing. --So somehow it doesnt seem to matter , in this regard anymore either. Strange. As for foreign policy-what is Obama's? we take out ghaddafi because he is slaughtering Libyans (who the Cia says are Al Queda that we are protecting-)because of French oil concerns. But allow Syrian citizens to die en masse --because France has no oil concerns. The Dems were outraged that Bush went into Iraq and cited oil as the disingenuous reasoning.....probably true-- but what about Libya? Why were we REALLY involved? Sorry- its all crap--and you guys should understand who this guy really is.
Marine Corps Pat September 23, 2012 at 12:18 PM
It is so amusing to watch so many tea-bagging right-wing idiots walking around like zombies in complete denial to the inevitable landslide re-election of President Barack Hussein Obama. “Scott Walker won”; “MSNBC said this, MSNBC said that”; “Glen Beck is a credible non-bias news source and the Main Stream Media isn’t”… LOL.
Shannon September 23, 2012 at 01:00 PM
I want fact checkers! Is Gibson still relevant enough for this to be worth discussing?
Jean D. September 23, 2012 at 01:05 PM
@Luca Your posts are too long. Liberals can only read bumper stickers and watch the View and Kardashian for their politics.
Jean D. September 23, 2012 at 01:07 PM
BTW the propaganda works so well for the Obama campaign. We are no smarter than the poor Germans in WWII. We are just as doomed as the Nazi's were because Obamas' policies are all built on lies too-all built on lies. So sad.
Joy September 23, 2012 at 08:11 PM
In basic math, people. Look at any electoral map and recent polls from non-partisan sources and there is no doubt Obama has a major edge at this point. As an independent, I'll politely tell any conservatives who want to disagree that you are simply in denial. Is a 2nd Obama term a foregone conclusion? No. But things aren't looking good for Romney. The only thing in his favor at this point is that there are 6 weeks until election day.
August Ritter September 23, 2012 at 09:14 PM
Luca goes for it hook, line and sinker, reel the sucker it Warren, reel the sucker in! LOL!
Jean D. September 23, 2012 at 11:44 PM
@Joy if Obama is re-elected after his failed Economic policy and his foreign policy disaster you can kiss our wonderful country and all that made us strong-goodbye. Independent? Does that mean you dont stand or anything so you buy into the propaganda big time I guess. BTW if you did understand *Basic Math* you would see that an Obama 2nd term will do us in. 16 trillion and counting. I guess you believe it is Bush's fault...
Jean D. September 23, 2012 at 11:47 PM
BTW, Media Having Trouble Finding Right Angle On Obama and Hillary's Double-Homicide... Propaganda anyone?
Joy September 24, 2012 at 12:25 AM
I'm not entirely sure how me stating the basic of the electoral college (as it stands at this point in the race based on current polling) has anything to do with your response to me. It doesn't really matter who I am voting for. I've talked to both Romney and Obama supporters who agree the polling and electoral college is in Obama's favor for now. But somehow just stating that fact requires you to make assumptions about my political views. I never said I didn't have concerns about Obama being re-elected (or Romney being elected). That doesn't change the polls. I think you missed the point of my comment.
Ksmithee September 24, 2012 at 02:17 AM
You know what's really amusing...Warren joined Patch yesterday but we haven't heard back from him, instead Marine Corps Pat joined this morning & August Ritter this afternoon. Wonder if they all share the same IP address as per their writing style.
Bryan September 24, 2012 at 04:18 AM
jr. You really have to be going around life with your eyes closed. Are you happy with 8 to 10 percent unemployment rate? And before you blame Bush like your President does if things were so bad that you were handed why was his biggest piority passing the biggest tax increase with Obamacare? His lawyer argued that it was a tax. Shouldn't he have tried to get people back to work by stablizing the economy. And the biggest problem the Liberals can come up with Romney is his taxes. I'm more worried how well he'll handle the economy and my taxes then how much he paid and donated to charity to lower his tax rate. Yes the 53 percent of us who do pay taxes are concerned.
Jean D. September 24, 2012 at 12:01 PM
@Ksmithee, let's hope there is only one person who is writing those posts.
Jean D. September 24, 2012 at 12:13 PM
jr is still living at his folks house and living off the capitalist pig's money no doubt. jr, capitalism has saved more people from poverty than any system EVER (what? You mean your College professors didn't mention that?). So while you seem to be worshipping Castro and Clinton give that some thought.
sebastian dangerfield September 27, 2012 at 04:30 AM
Marine Corps Pat Its not amusing to 'watch' left wing dolts, imbibe the kool aid that is spewed by the main stream media. To wit--the mess we got into is as a result of the bush policies , particularly deregulation. (marine corps pat, you have heard this right? Prove it--or admit the MSM is not a great news source) 2) Obama created 4.5 mio jobs. True Marine corps pat, but what is the NET job count since Nov 2008? Why does the MSm not challenge this total deception? You believe it no doubt. But the fact of the matter is, when Obama was elected the Unemployment rate was 6.5%. It stands now at 8.1% , after being over 10%. Now we are actually hearing how he has done a good job? And people buy it? Because of all the false numbers? "the economy when obama was elected was losing 800k jobs a month!! True. For about 5 months, 2 under bush and 3 under obama that is true. But, if the economy was so bad, (and it was) then why did Obama focus his efforts on Obamacare? "The GM bailout was good. 1 why? The american taxpayer simply was asked to pay for GM union retirees pensions. The company was never going to stop making cars. It simply needed to rid itself of the burden of overly generous retiree benefits, that had it going to bankruptcy. 2--GM is headed for bankruptcy again. Then what? More hoopla on how great a job that is to pay for union workers, while most of the country struggles with their own problems?
