Malloy: Online Gambling Can't Be Stopped

Gov. Dannel Malloy told reporters at a press conference in Hartford on Monday that there's no way he'll be able to stop online gaming from coming to Connecticut, according to the Hartford Courant.

Malloy said that because of a U.S. Justice Department ruling to bring online gambling to states such as New Jersey—where lawmakers are already drafting legislation on the matter—was made on a national level, it will come to all 50 states.

Malloy is known for backing the expansion of brick-and-mortar casinos across the state, but .

“There's so much data that shows how detrimental they are to the cities and towns were they're built," state Rep. Brenda Kupchick, a Republican representing Fairfield in the 132nd House District, told Patch last month.
