Norwalk Board of Ed Chair to Run Against Bob Duff

Chiaramonte told The Hour of Norwalk what prompted him to run was when he witnessed Duff "walk in and walk out of" an important committee meeting on education reform up in Hartford.

Asserting that is doing a poor job of representing the district and is out of touch with his constituency, , Republican chairman of the Norwalk Board of Education, has reportedly announced his intention to run against the four-term incumbent this fall.

Chiaramonte, whose , told The Hour of Norwalk that Sen. Duff's recent votes in support of abolition of the death penalty, same-day voter registration, and decreasing the penalty for marijuana "are not issues people in Norwalk agree with him on, but he represents us."

Chiaramonte, a longtime resident and , said what prompted him to run was when he witnessed Duff "walk in and walk out of" an important committee meeting on education reform up in Hartford, indicating to him that Duff isn't giving enough attention the "gross inequity in what Norwalk receives (in Education Cost Sharing)."

Chiaramonte is expected to be formally named the GOP's choice to run against Sen. Duff during tonight's Norwalk Convention.
