Parks & Rec Accepting Beach Permit Applications

The decals are required for access to the town's beaches from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Summer weather may still be several months off, but 'tis the season to apply for beach permits in Darien.

The is now accepting print and online applications for the passes, which are required for entry to and between Memorial Day and Labor Day (or at times when the gatehouses are staffed).

Permits are only available to Darien taxpayers and residents. The department requires proof of residency in the form of a current motor vehicle registration.

The standard cost of a permit is $40 per vehicle, but senior citizens are eligible for one free permit per household. Town taxpayers who reside elsewhere or have a vehicle registered to an out-of-town address must pay a non-resident price of $70 per vehicle.

Separate boat permits are required for use of the launch areas at the two beaches. The cost is $45 per boat.

Applications were mailed out to households at the end of February, but residents can also apply through the town's online registration system or fill out the PDF version and mail materials to Parks & Recreation.

For information, consult the department's spring/summer brochure or contact the office at 203-656-7325.
