Commuters and other town residents should get more time to learn about
the new parking payment system proposed for the Darien and Noroton
Heights railroad stations before the Board of Selectmen decides whether to approve it, the board decided Monday.
So a public hearing begun Monday will be extended to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, the board decided. The hearing is expected to take place in Town Hall.
for parking would be done by kiosk or with a mobile app for
smartphones, according to the proposal as it stands today. Selectmen
indicated they favor the proposal but won't vote on it until hearing
from the public. Comments at the public hearing may cause selectmen to
alter the plan or, theoretically, even reject it.
