Selectmen Hire New Public Works Director

A news release from the Darien First Selectman's Office:

On Monday night, the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Edward L. Gentile Jr. as the town’s superintendent of public works. 

Mr. Gentile holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University where he graduated Cum Laude.   He is a licensed engineer in Connecticut and New York.   Mr. Gentile will begin his employment with the town on June 2, 2014.

Mr. Gentile, a lifetime Stamford resident, has been employed by Northeast Utilities-Yankee Gas since 2010. Prior to his employment with NE Utilities, Mr. Gentile worked as a deputy city engineer in the City of Stamford’s Engineering Bureau for more than 10 years.  

His experience in engineering, traffic engineering, building inspection, traffic and roadway maintenance , traffic enforcement, construction management as well as sewer, flooding, and draining issues will be invaluable to the Town of Darien.
