Supreme Court Denies Flight Path Appeal

The decision may bring more planes over our patch.

The Supreme Court has declined to review an appeal over new Federal Aviation Administration's flight paths that would bring more air traffic to Fairfield County.

Darien argued alongside other southwestern Connecticut communities that the FAA's plans would route more large planes through area skies, increasing noise and pollution.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who filed the appeal in November, expressed his disappointment with the denial in a statement:

"These new flight paths are based on defective data concerning noise and traffic—dismissing less damaging alternatives and disregarding the impact on millions of residents in the region. The U.S. Supreme Court is allowing the FAA to fly above the law."

Blumenthal pledged that the fight would go on in a political forum if not the courtroom.
