High Schoolers: What Does Community Service Mean to You?

It’s back! Once again this year we are thrilled to kick off our annual high school essay contest in partnership with our good friends at Patch. We have teamed up and are inviting high school students in select communities here in Fairfield County to tell us what community service means to them.

Our website is a free tool that aims to connect volunteers and nonprofits here in Connecticut. Since our site launched two years ago we have been all over the region meeting with volunteers of all ages, interests and abilities. They all impress us with their dedication, passion and spirit.

However, working with teens, we often get to see some of the most amazing volunteer experiences. Many teens are volunteering for the first time and their spirit of giving gets us so excited!

Essays will ONLY be accepted starting May 5 and until May 7. To submit your essay, email them to essays@volunteersquare.com.

Here’s how we’ll decide the winners. The VolunteerSquare.com Advisory Board will review all the essays and select a Top Ten. Then, Patch will put the Top Ten front and center and the community will get the chance to vote for their favorites and that’s how we will determine the top three winners. On May 13th, we will announce the top 10 winners and community voting will run from May 13 – 18.

Prizes:

•                1st Place: Kindle Fire & $700 cash

•                2nd Place: Chrome Laptop & $450 cash

•                3rd Place: $300 cash
