Board of Ed Approves Teaching Appointments
The board approved the appointment of ten teachers and staff members.
At its Tuesday night meeting, the Darien Board of Education unanimously approved district administrators' requests to make the following teaching appointments for 2010-2011:
Darien High School
- Dennis Cabrera, social studies teacher
- Denise Massari, Spanish teacher
- Elizabeth Wenzel, English teacher
Middlesex Middle School

- William Heher, science teacher
- Susan Shannon, math teacher
- Brittany Wainacht, special education instructor
Tokeneke School
- Jo-Ann Epstein, special education instructor
- Kathleen Patriarca, special education instructor
Holmes School

The board also accepted the retirement of Middlesex Middle School physical education teacher Michael Masiuk and the resignations of Darien High School chemistry teacher Nicole Martel and Hindley School fifth grade teacher Shannon Reynolds, effective July 30.
Additionally, the board approved a request to grant unpaid child care leave to four certified staff members and an unpaid personal leave to one teacher.
The board did not address the vacant position of the assistant superintendent for secondary education during the meeting.
