Counting the Days Until School Resumes

There's still about 6 weeks left of summer according to the 2013-2014 Darien Public Schools calendar. The first day of school for students is slated for August 26th.

The first day of the 2013-2014 school year for Darien Public Schools  is before Labor Day this year. Students are due to return to school on August 26th. School is closed for Labor Day on September 2nd and closed for Rosh Hashanah holiday September 5th. The next day off school for students is October 14th in honor of Columbus Day, but teachers have staff development scheduled that day.

With missed days of school last year due to weather events, there is some flexibility built into the calendar for the upcoming school year. According to the Darien Schools website, "If schools are closed due to weather, additional days will be added to the end of the school year."

Regarding DHS Graduation, by State law, after April 1st, Boards of Education are permitted to establish a graduation date. Therefore, the Board of Education will make that determination at its first regular April, 2014 meeting.
