Connecticut Native Trees: Benefits, Selection & Care

Which tree species are native to Connecticut?  When you plant native trees over non-natives, what are the benefits to you?  How do wildlife benefit from native trees? How can you better plant and protect the trees on your property?  These questions and more will be answered on Thursday, September 8 at 7pm in the Darien Library Community Room.

Sponsored by the Tree Conservancy of Darien and the Darien Library, Andrew Brodtman will be speaking on his favorite native Connecticut trees.  The lecture is designed to help residents understand the value of planting native trees; offer tips on tree selection, planting and protection; and answer audience questions.  The lecture will help kick-off the Tree Conservancy’s Annual Tree Sale, where one of Andrew’s native favorites - the Eastern Redbud - will be offered for sale for fall planting.
