What does it mean when we turn to anger and violence to solve our problems? Why do we seem to have such short fuses, always ready to erupt at even the slightest provocation? So many news stories revealing violent acts, including that in Tucson, seem to beg for answers, though some would say, “That’s one incident, or that's the way it is and has been.” While it is tempting to see the problem as bigger than ourselves, there is much we can do as communities and as individuals to model the change we want to see. This is the goal of this discussion, featuring of panel of experts from the fields of psychology, theology, police enforcement, and social services. The First Congregational Church of Darien has a history of fostering discussion on moral issues in society, and we are hoping to continue this tradition with this forum.
