Hagerty-Ross Named Board of Education Chair

Clara Sartori was chosen to serve as vice chair and Heather Shea as secretary.

Fresh off of Tuesday's municipal election, the Darien Board of Education unanimously elevated vice chair Elizabeth (Betsy) Hagerty-Ross to serve as its new chairman Wednesday.

Hagerty-Ross (R) succeeds Kim Westcott, who declined to seek another term this cycle after serving nine years on the board, the last two of them as chair.

The board also chose outgoing secretary Clara Sartori (R) as its new vice chair and Heather Shea (D) as its new secretary. Both votes were unanimous.

Wednesday's meeting included the introduction of new member Michael Harman (R), who was elected to the board in an uncontested race Tuesday with 2,951 votes.

Morgan Whittier (R) and Shea also won reelection, earning 3,053 and 1,803 votes, respectively.

No joke. But after seeing the political talent in the state, I don't hold out much hope.
