New Assistant Principal for Hindley School Hired

Darien Public Schools hired Dr. Jenna Masone as the new assistant principal of Hindley School. She formerly was assistant principal at Brookside Elementary School in Norwalk.

After the Board of Education unanimously approved hiring her, Darien Public Schools issued this news release Tuesday on the hiring of Dr. Jenna Masone to be the new assistant principal at Hindley School:

"The Darien Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools, Stephen V. Falcone, are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jenna Masone as Assistant Principal at Hindley Elementary School. 

"She will replace Melissa Currier, who recently was appointed as the Principal of Mathewson Elementary School in Milford, CT.

"Dr. Masone has spent her entire career in education in the Norwalk Public Schools, the last six of which have been as the Assistant Principal at Brookside Elementary School.  She began her work in Norwalk as a Fifth Grade Bilingual Teacher and then spent the majority of her teaching career at the First Grade.

"In her role as an assistant principal, Dr. Masone has been responsible for supervising and evaluating teachers, analyzing and disaggregating test data, organizing vertical teams of faculty to monitor student and school progress, overseeing building level special education processes, writing grants, and providing guidance to colleagues in the implementation of Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop and Growing with Math curricula.

"She has sat on district-wide committees related to the Academically Talented program, the SRBI intervention program, district technology applications, and racial and cultural balance in school populations.

"Dr. Masone has developed scheduling practices at Brookside to maximize opportunities for students, worked closely and effectively with the Parent Teacher Organization, and has guided teachers in the school through accreditation processes for their School Readiness Pre-K program.  

"Dr. Masone has been recognized as an “outstanding leader” who “cares about children and their success”, “understands the importance of establishing consistency”, and “has a friendly and open manner when dealing with adults and children.” 

"Jenna Masone earned her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Fairfield University.  She received a graduate Master of Arts degree from Fairfield in Elementary Education and she was awarded her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport.

"Professionally, Dr. Masone has received teaching and learning grants from the Dalio Family Foundation and the Norwalk Education Foundation.  She is an Urban School Leaders Fellow, a program sponsored by the CT Center for School Change and the Neag School of Education at UConn.   

"Dr. Masone resides with her family in Stamford, CT."
