Challenge #21 - Donate, Dispose & Deliver

Today's challenge is to put closure on the work you have been doing by donating, disposing of, and delivering the items you've sorted out over the month.

Believe it or not, we have come to the end of GO! (Get Organized!) Month. Today’s challenge is to put closure on the work you have been doing by donating, disposing of, and delivering the items you’ve sorted out over the month.

THE TASK

Nothing is more frustrating than a partially completed task. If you have started a challenge this month but haven’t finished it, we encourage you to stick with it and get it done! If you have completed the challenges, you may have some bags/boxes/piles of “stuff” that you plan to get rid of. Today’s the day to get all these items out of your space.

For items to donate…

If you have small items, you can load them in your car and drive around to drop off at local charities. If you have an item and don’t know where to take it, email us at The Seana Method for some help. Remember to get a tax donation form if you want to deduct these items from your taxes.

If you have larger items, such as furniture, consider scheduling a pick-up at your home. Two national charities who offer at home pickup are the Salvation Army and the Vietnam Veterans of America.

For items to deliver…

These are items that belong to someone else you know. Package up anything you need to send far away and get it shipped. For destinations that are local, drive and deliver items to the appropriate recipient.

For items to dispose of…

Sort your disposal items into

  • Trash
  • Recycle (glass, plastics, newspaper, cardboard, etc.)
  • Special disposal (hazardous waste, old paints, used medication, batteries, printer cartridges, etc)

Again, if you need help finding out how/where to recycle or dispose of items, email us for some free guidance.

The key for today’s challenge is to move items out of your home to their final destination. Frequently we lose our energy and end up driving items around for months, or piling them up in a garage. Resist the urge to slack off, and push yourself to get these items out of your space.

Whether you’ve been working with us all month, or just hopped in for a project or two, we hope you’ve had fun and experienced some great results this month. Remember, the order of the projects doesn’t matter, so you can always go back and tackle one you may have missed. If you have been energized by these challenges and are ready for more, contact us for some next steps. You can also visit our website, continue to follow us on Darienpatch.com, follow us on Twitter, or “like” us on FB for some free tips.

Getting organized is affordable and energizing. Best of luck as you pursue freedom through organization.
