Six former Connecticut hockey players will skate for Olympic gold for both the men’s and women’s teams next month at the Sochi games.

Three members selected to each elite team have strong ties to the Nutmeg State, as outlined below.

The TV schedule for both teams was announced Thursday (detailed below—get ready to lose some sleep if you want to watch the games live): The women’s team will start on Saturday, Feb. 8 against Finland, while the men start the following Thursday, Feb. 13, against Slovakia.

The gold medal games (not out of the question for the Americans) will be held Feb. 20 for the women and Feb. 23 for the men.

Here’s a round-up of our Connecticut players—if we’ve missed an athlete, please say so in the comments thread. Click on each player’s name for more details:

Women’s Team

  • Julie Chu: The Fairfield resident and three-time Olympian is the squad’s oldest member at 31. The forward is one of three alumni from Wallingford’s Choate Rosemary Hall on the team.
  • Josephine Pucci: The defenseman, a native of nearby Pearl River, NY, and Choate grad, is a Harvard senior and first-time Olympian.
  • Hilary Knight: The 24-year-old forward and Choate alum was part of the silver medal squad in Vancouver four years ago. She was named Player of the Game in last year’s Women’s Championship quarterfinal versus Finland.

Men’s Team

  • Max Pacioretty: A New Canaan High School Ram for one year before transferring to Taft in Watertown, the standout forward has been with the Montreal Canadiens since the Habs drafted him in 2007.
  • Jonathan Quick: The Milford native and L.A. Kings goalie, a member of the team that silver-medaled in Vancouver four years ago, is a graduate of Avon Old Farms boarding school in Avon.
  • Kevin Shattenkirk: The 24-year-old New Rochelle, NY native and 2004 graduate of The Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT, plays professionally for the St. Louis Blues and will join his first Olympics squad.
