Crane Ranked 36th After 4th Olympic Race [UPDATE]

Crane's ranking improved, but was still well behind in the third and fourth races of 11, according to an Olympics website.

Update 1:18 p.m.:

The Olympics website appears to revise its information quite a bit just after a race. Two hours later, we now have Rob Crane at 28th place, 4 minutes and 4 seconds behind the winner.

His overall ranking so far, after four races, is 36th.

The next two races take place Wednesday (on Thursday, no races; they resume Friday):

  • Race 5 is scheduled to start at 7:05 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (12:05 p.m. local time in Weymouth, UK, where the racing takes place).
  • Race 6 is scheduled to start at 8:20 a.m. EDT (our time; 1:20 p.m. in Weymouth).

And here we go with another revision from the Olympics website. Crane is now ranked 36th overall and his time in the fourth race was 3 minutes, 28 seconds behind the leader.

Update 11:15 a.m.:

Now the Olympics men's Laser boat results page ranks Crane at 38th.

Update 11:11 a.m.:

Crane rises to 39th place after the fourth race, 3 minutes, 16 seconds behind the winner. That's after coming in at 47th, 48th, 46th and 46th in the first four marks of the race.

Update 11:04 a.m.:

Crane was 2:52 behind the leader at the 4th mark of the race. He came in at 46th place.

Update 11:01 a.m.:

Pavlos Kontides of Cyprus wins Race 4, as he did Race 3 earlier in the day. Very good day for him. Results for Crane should be in at any moment.

Update 10:54 a.m.:

Crane is now past the third mark, in 46th place, 1 minute, 51 seconds behind the leater.

Update 10:51 a.m.:

In his fourth race, now ongoing, Crane is in 48th place as of the second mark (of four marks in the race). At the first mark he was in 47th place. As of the second mark, he was 1 minute, 33 seconds behind the leader.

Update 10:15 a.m.:

Rob Crane finished 30th in the third Laser boat race of the 2012 Olympics, finishing 3 minutes, 40 seconds behind the leader, Pavlos Kontides of Cyprus.

In the last few minutes of the race, Crane moved from 29th place to 27th and then to 30th, according to the continuously updated results of the Olympics' "Mens Laser" results webpage.

Most of the races will take place the rest of this week, with the next one due to begin at 10:30 a.m. (1:30 p.m., in the United Kingdom). Each race takes about an hour.

Update 10:06:

Rob Crane is within minutes of the finish in Race 3 and has moved up to 27th place.

The latest Laser sailing race in the 2012 Olympics is currently on, as this Olympics website shows ("R3" is the current race), with Darien's Rob Crane currently in 29th place.

Three hours ago, Crane tweeted: "Getting ready for day two of racing. Need a better day then yesterday. Its supposed to be breezy so we will see what happens."
