Darien Finishes Fourth In FCIAC Boys Swimming Finals

Darien's Jason Cochan was named the FCIAC Coach of the Year

Darien's Jason Cochan was named FCIAC boys swimming Coach of the Year after the Blue Wave finished third at the FCIAC  championships on Friday.

Greenwich won its 41st title in the last 42 years, including its fifth straight, while New Canaan placed second and Staples third.

Darien senior captain Jack Bair won his first individual FCIAC title by taking the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:45.11 while Blue Wave junior James Baker was third in the event (1:46.36).

Darien's senior captain Tyler Gould had a pair of top-five finishes, placing fourth in the 50 freestyle (22.03) and third in the 100 freestyle (47.67). Bair, Baker and Gould all earned all-FCIAC honors.

Darien is expected to place in the top three at the Class L state championships on March 14 and also contend for a high finish in the state Open meet on March 17.
