Football Team Banquet Ushers Out 8-2 Season

The football team concluded its successful 8-2 season on Dec. 8 with a banquet honoring the team, the players and the naming the captains for 2012.

The 2012 captains, elected by the players and coaches, are Henry Baldwin, Matt D’Andrea, Peter Gesualdi, Andrew Maley and Ian Vanderhorn. They take over from seniors Corey Eppley, Patrick McDonald, Brett O’Donnell and Mike Stovall.

At the banquet, coach Rob Trifone also honored the following players:

FCIAC Scholar-Athlete Award: Ryan Barthold, Patrick McDonald, Stephen Wildish

Scout Team Award: Ryan Barthold, Tyler Maul

Special Teams Award: Max Gunn, Christopher Smith

Coach’s Award: Jim Anderson

Jim Girard Award: Ryan Gregory

Mike Sangster True Grit Award: Mike Stovall

Most Improved Awards: Nick Lombardo (sophomore) and Matt D’Andrea (junior)

John Maher Award for most improved senior: Harlan Smith

Outstanding Player Awards: Brett O’Donnell (offensive lineman); Jake Coughlin (defensive lineman); Henry Baldwin (offensive player); Corey Eppley (defensive player).

On Saturday, the incoming and outgoing captains of Blue Wave football gathered at Spring Grove to help decorate the graves of veterans as part of Wreaths Across America.

Participating werer Eppley, Baldwin, Maley, Vanderhorn, O'Donnell, D'Andrea, McDonald, Stovall and Gesualdi.
