Lacrosse: The Darien girls lacrosse team is hardly looking like a No. 13 seed.

For the second time in as many games, the Blue Wave eclipsed the 20-goal mark, routing No. 5 Guilford 22-2 in the CIAC Class M quarterfinals on Monday.

Ellie Bullit, Dillon Schoen and Bryan Gasparino each scored four goals for Darien (13-8), which has won its two tournament games by a combined margin off 44-6. Darien drubbed Barlow 22-4 in the first round.

Paxton Voigt and Hollis Perticone each twice for the Blue Wave, who will face New Canaan 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fairfield Ludlowe. The Rams ousted top-seeded Wilton, 14-11, to earn their semifinal berth.

Darien is looking to reach the state final for the fourth time in five years. The Blue Wave won three straight titles from 2007-2009 before being upset by Greenwich in the semifinals last year.

In 2009, Darien defeated New Canaan 16-8 in the Division II. This year, the CIAC expanded the girls lacrosse state tournament to three divisions: classes S, M, and L.

Meanwhile, the Darien boys lacrosse team will face Wilton at Fairfield Ludlowe on Wednesday (4:30 p.m.) just before the girls go on.

Tennis: Darien's Dominic Hansford and Malcolm Willis lost to Fairfield's Daniel Adajian and Reid Andren, 6-2, 6-2, in the quarterfinals of the doubles competition in the CIAC Class L tennis state championship.

  • Baseball > Minor League > Minors Playoffs > Minors Bracket B: Viking Global rallied from an early seven-run deficit to defeat Diagle & Travers Insurance 13-12 in a 10-inning marathon on Sunday. AJ Arledge had three hits and Nick Pope drove in two runs for Viking Global, which erased a 7-0 deficit to knot the game at 8-8 after six innings. Viking Global tied the contest in the sixth on an  RBI single by Luke Berkowitz, then drew even again in the eighth and ninth before prevailing on Matthew Fiorita's bases-loaded walk in the 10th. Nolan Crosby led the way for Diagle &Travers with four hits while Duncan MacClear had three hits and three RBI.
  • LL Baseball > Minor League > Minors Playoffs > Minors Bracket A: The hitting of Camilo Orozco, Dylan Fram and Henry Steinthal helped lead Fox Hill Builders to a 13-6 win over Darien Doughnut on Sunday in the second game of round robin play. Tyler Sylvester and Parker McLane had multiple-hit games for Darien Doughnut while Nick Cardone delivered a triple.
  • Baseball > JR Schoen AAA League > National: John Henry Slonieski went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI as My Tutor & Me defeated Shippan Auto Body 17-7 on Sunday. Max Berry and Frank Drugge also had two hits apiece for My Tutor & Me. Starter Grant Doherty and Oliver Bolton each had five strikeouts for the winners, who escaped bases-loaded jams in the second and fourth innings.
  • Baseball > Minor League > Minors Playoffs > Minors Bracket C: Upper Crust Bakery  6, Griebs Pharmacy 3 (Saturday)
