Lacrosse

The Darien boys lacrosse team has been ranked third in the country by Inside Lacrosse behind Haverford (PA) and Garden City (NY). The magazine ranked the Blue Wave second in the Northeast.

Darien is seeking its ninth state championship in program history and seventh in a row. Thirteen members of the last year's team are playing college lacrosse.

Jeff Brameier is entering his 28th season as the Blue Wave's coach. Darien begins its season at home on April 6 against St. Joseph, last year's Class S state runner-up.

STANDINGS

Monday marked the start of practices for Darien's spring sports teams, with the baseball, golf, lacrosse, softball, tennis, track, boys volleyball, and sailing teams kicking off their respective seasons.

The season's first scrimmage is set for Thursday, when the boys lacrosse team goes up against John Jay High School in Cross River, N.Y. (4:15 p.m.).
