The Darien High School ski team recently raced against Amity, Danbury, Fairfield and Pomperaug at the Mt. Southington Ski Area.
The girls varsity team lost to Fairfield and defeated Amity, Danbury and Pomperaug, improving its record to 13-5 this season. The Blue Wave's time was 313.51, behind Fairfield (304.21) and ahead of Amity (344.62). The Darien boys, with a time of 301.14, lost to Fairfield (277.28) but defeated Amity, Danbury, and Pomperaug to improve 12-10 and qualify for the end-of-year state tournament.

Girls’ times this week again were paced by co-captain Meg Del Col (46.50), followed by Fay Rizzuto (49.34), co-captain Natalie Rowe (51.32), Allison Graham (53.55), Kailin Edgar (56.31), Dana Howe (56.49), co-captain Kendall Kyritz (57.48), Abby Howe (58.23), and Kelsey Edgar (58.55).
The boys were led by Will McCoy (48.16), followed by Brady Collins (48.26), co-captain Peter Del Col (48.47), co-captain Chris Brophy (50.86), Andy Mogenson (51.85), Nick Wolf (53.54), Graham Lesko (55.69), Jack Clarke (57.82), Conner Nackley (58.01), and Alex von Stuelpnagel (59.19).
“I am very proud of the boys because they skied well when it counted to qualify for the Connecticut state tournament,” Darien coach Brian Zeyer said in a statement.
