Darien Scores and Standings, Oct. 12

• Cross Country: The Darien boys cross country team capped off its stellar season with three more wins at its final regular season meet, earning the team an undefeated record. The Blue Wave dominated the event, held Tuesday at Tod’s Point in Greenwich, defeating squads from Greenwich, Wilton, and Fairfield Warde to improve to 17-0.

The Blue Wave defeated Greenwich 15-47, Wilton 20-43 and Warde 20-42. The meet was marked by Darien runners posting solid times and dominating the race’s top 20 finishers.  

Co-captains and seniors Charlie Baird and Michael Johnston finished first and second for the Blue Wave — third and fourth overall — with times of 16:30 and 16:31, respectively.

Senior co-captain Michael Coe came in a close third for Darien and fifth overall at 16:34. Sophomore Marshall Huffman crossed the finish line fourth for the Blue Wave and sixth overall at 16:47. Co-captain Eli Converse was seventh at 16:53 and Peter Kreuch finished eighth overall at 16:58. Brian Davey rounded out the team’s top seven with a 12th-place finish at 17:02. 

“This was a stellar regular season," Darien coach Tyson Kaczmarek said. "I never thought we would be where we are. With that said, I’m looking forward to the end of the year. We are just getting started."

The FCIAC championships are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20 at New Canaan’s Waveny Park, where the team will face off against its conference rivals.
