Darien graduated 18 starters from last year's team that defeated Trumbull in the FCIAC championship. The only returning starters are senior halfback-cornerback Peter Gesualdi, junior tackle Matt D'Andrea, senior tackle Brett O'Donnell, and senior halfback-free safety Corey Eppley.

Darien lost its top receiver in Graham Maybell, but returns Gesualdi, who was the team's leading rusher last season with more than 700 yards. Junior Henry Baldwin, who received limited playing time last season, takes over for Chris Allam at quarterback.

Clay Barker, who was Darien's second-leading receiver a year ago, hopes to return at some point after undergoing surgery in June to repair a torn ACL.
