Darien Scores and Standings, Sept. 5

• Rowing: The lightweight men’s double sculls crew of Rowayton's Brian de Regt and New Haven's Jon Winter rowed in the C final Saturday at the World Rowing Championships Bled, Slovakia.

The ream finished second in the race and 14th overall in the regatta, missing a chance to qualify for next summer's Olympic Games in London.

They will get another chance, however, at the Olympic Qualification Regatta scheduled for May 20-23, 2012, in Lucerne, Switzerland, and some immediate evaluation

Football: The Darien football plays its final preseason scrimmage on Friday when the Blue Wave host McMahon at 4 p.m. at the DHS stadium.

Boys soccer:  The Darien boys soccer team has three scrimmages this week. The Blue Wave are home for Deerfield Academy on Monday and Kolbe-Cathedral on Wednesday (both at 4 p.m.), then play in the Amity Jamboree on Saturday (10 a.m.)

Girls soccer: The Darien girls soccer team has one scrimmage this week. The Blue Wave host Newtown on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Field hockey: The Darien field hockey squad will be busy with three scrimmage this week, starting on Monday when the Blue Wave compete in the Mamaroneck (N.Y.) Play Day starting at 9:30 a.m.

Darien is home for Greenwich Academy on Wednesday (3:45 p.m.), then hosts is Play Day on Saturday (1 p.m.)
