Norwalk Seaport Oyster Festival

Norwalk Seaport Association Oyster Festival will take place Friday-Sunday, Sept. 10-12, at Veteran's Park adjacent to Norwalk Harbor on Seaview Avenue in East Norwalk. Saturday is Family Day and children ages 5-12 are admitted free with a paying adult. With a $15 bracelet, kids enjoy unlimited rides in Kids' Cove 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Soundwaters, an 80-foot replica of a Chesapeake Bay sharpie schooner, and Quinnipiac, a traditionally-rigged sailing ship that last visited the Oyster Festival in 2001, will be docked near the festival and available for boarding tours. Earthplace's touch tank will be onsite for attendees to become acquainted with marine life from Long Island Sound.         

For adults, the Norwalk Seaport Association brings back the event's namesake, the oyster pavilion, complete with shucking and slurping contests.

Festival hours are 6-11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11; and 11-8 Sunday, Sept. 12. The event is held at . There is no parking on festival grounds but free shuttle service is provided to and from the event.          

Admission prices at the gate are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens (62 and older) and $3 for children ages 5-12. Children younger than 5 enter free. The daily entrance fee includes off-site parking, shuttle buses to and from the festival and performances in Kids' Cove and on two stages.
