Play In May Kick-off Cocktail Party and Tennis Tournament

A  “Pay it Forward” themed cocktail party and a Men's and Women's doubles tennis tournament (all levels welcome) played at country clubs in Darien, Norwalk and New Canaan.  At the cocktail party tennis players and non-players can bid on both silent auction as well as a live auction items, featuring a US Open tickets, a Colorado ski vacation, a Sunday cruise to a Prime restaurant, Gold Coast mansion tour, opening day tickets to the Yankees will enable additional donations.  Master of Ceremonies, CBS 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley, will bring his unique wit and charm to the occasion.  Winner of countless journalism accolades, including two Peabody awards, five Edward R. Murrow Awards and 14 Emmys, Scott is sure to be a crowd-pleaser ensuring an enjoyable and successful evening for both attendees and organizers.  All proceeds benefit Norwalk Grassroots Tennis (NGT) which was founded in 1995 to provide economically disadvantaged urban youth of Fairfield County with structure and encouragement in a positive environment.  The program provides participants the opportunity to learn how to play tennis along with the chance to develop important life skills - confidence, sportsmanship, respect for rules and a feeling of accomplishment.  NGT volunteers provide year round tutoring to the more than 300 program participants annually.  Several players have achieved junior USTA rankings and received college scholarship including 6 graduating seniors who will be attending college this Fall on educational or athletic scholarships.
