Darien's 13-7 win against Middletown in Saturday's Class L state semifinal game at Pomperaug High School means that the Blue Wave will be playing New Canaan this coming Saturday.
For the 2013 Class L state championship, Darien faces longtime arch-rival New Canaan on Saturday, starting at 2:05 p.m. at Arute Field on the Central Connecticut State Univerity campus in New Britain. (The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference shows how playoffs got Darien to this point.)
The key to winning the game was Blue Wave's strong defense, according to John Chik's article in the Darien News.
"It’s the fourth time in a row 12-1 Darien’s come-from-behind to win when it has most counted this season," Steven Buono wrote in the Darien Times.
