College and Money and Galileo

Albert, Albert, if Darien has one paramedic and that paramedic is called to care for a patient and another call for a paramedic comes in, here is what can happen. The first patient has the benefit of a quick response from a paramedic. It is possible the first patient's condition would allow the paramedic to break off and attend the second patient. In this case, both patients would get the benefit of fast paramedic response. If the paramedic could not break off, then the second patient would have the same paramedic response from out of town that he would have today. One patient would be better off and the other patient would be no worse off. Albert, Albert, if we followed your reasoning, the fear of multiple emergencies would keep all towns from having paramedics. In fact, almost all towns do have paramedics. I have lived in Darien for almost 30 years and Post being a help in getting kids into college is openly talked about especially by DHS Postie parents. In fact, DHS Posties would be helped just as much if they supported Darien based paramedics. In those almost 30 years, I also cannot tell you how many senior public officials have expressed concern about the cost of Darien based paramedics. Money is more important than saving lives. All of you should discuss the disparity in response times within Darien. No one wants to go near that one. Stay tuned. Walter Casey.
