Plans and Observations

For the near future, I will not be quoting daily paramedic calls from the beginning of 2012 forward. You should understand that I received 2012 data only after waiting almost six months for my FOI to be honored. I anticipate equal problems with obtaining 2013 data. After reviewing these data from the beginning of 2012, the same way too long response times are present as were present at the end of the year. From time to time, I will probably point out some of the more outrageous examples of our inadequate system. I will be working on the aggregate data but, since there are tens of thousands of data points, I will need time. I would like to comment on the issue of money and paramedics. When I brought up the topic of Post 53 finances, some Postie/bloggers expressed shock and asked why. More recently, one Postie/blogger criticized a paramedic supporter for supporting paramedics because  the supporter didn't live in Darien and wouldn't have to foot the increased tax bill for paramedics. In the end, it comes down to money. Then a Postie/ blogger described the generous donor base supporting Post 53. I would hope that, if these donors are willing to donate for an EMS system that makes no sense, then they would be willing to support an EMS system that does make sense. I hesitate to point out that a group of Darienites pledged $500,000 for a concessions stand in a mind boggling display of prioritizing. My own view is that Darien has a tax base that can support Darien based paramedics without donations. Stay tuned. Walter Casey.
